We installed a new steering box in our 68 Camaro.  We are having a problem getting the steering column to go past the first set of splines in the steering box.  Any suggestions?

call the manufacturer..

or.. carefully examine the splines.. usually on the steering input shaft splines there is a missing spline.. if this were round... it would look like this..

VVVVVVVVVV\__/VVVVVVVVV

if you are trying to install it slightly off..

VVVVVVVVVV\__/VVVVVVVVV

VVVVVVV\__/VVVVVVVVVVVV

its NOT going to fit..

Thanks for the info.  What we ended up doing was loosening the bolts on the steering box.  The steering column shaft slide right in at the rag joint.  Our biggest problem was the limited space due to the headers being right there and the brake line running right under the box.  Hope we don't have to do this on my hubby's '68 anytime soon.....Thanks again, Barb
