Hi Guys,
Have a friend with 91 Firebird that won't start.
He said he was working on the electric windows with the ignition on,got tired of the constant buzzing from the seat belt warner,so he pulled the key from the ignition slightly, just enough to get the buzzer to stop. Now  the starter won't run.

perform the upper part of this test first.

Wmdprhm

could have just run the battery down..

try starting it in neutral.. try shifting it back into park.

if he blew out a fusible link when he was messing with the windows.. that could also be the issue..  what works on the dash..

he may want to check the voltage at the ignition switch..  or at the positive side of the coil.. with the key on..

this is how the ignition switch is wired on that model..

I had him bypass the starter enable relay.Starter turned but still wouldn't fire up.
Ended up bypassing the VATS with a 0.03 cent resistor, and all is good.

Him pulling the key out slightly to stop the buzzer probably did it in.

PS:Why is it such a PITA to log on here these days?Somebody really out did themselves this time. Tongue
