im building 383 stroker and was wondering which size rod is best the 6inch or the 5.7 and is one really better than the other thanks for any help

If you are building a street engine stay with the 5.7 Rod.

If your running a strip engine then a 6.0 rod is ok.

With all that said there is no power advantage to using a longer then stock rod. It only creates problems down the road. The longer rod stays at TDC and BDC longer creating (Dwell time). We run engines on the dyno all the time. Long rods prove not to increase power until your engine speed is above 8,000RPM. If your running at those speeds then try a longer rod.

Thanks for the info im only going turn bout 7500 thats the top rpm on the cam prob wont ever see anything above 8000

short rods can be lighter sometimes also.   ive built a few strokers using 5.56/400 rods with standard 350 pistons and they ran great.   just a thought to keep it simple.  i agree with Pepsi about the dwell time on the 6 inch rods.

I just don't you to get into something that will get you NO GAIN and in turn will just cause you problems. It would take an hour to explain.why it's not important, you also change the rod angle in the engine and that that is very confused!
