what heads do you have? 350's make more power with 1-5/8ths headers. You might want to think about some vortec heads depending on what you have. I'm guessing your heads are off. Also what intake are you using. also might wana think about a stall converter but something sounds off it should spin the tires, also your comp. ratio?

Is there a possibility you timmed the cam wrong? That is a pretty radical cam with 106 lobe seperation and 270 duration @.050. I think it is way too much for stock heads and compression, if we are talking about the same cam here? I would keep the LSA 109 or greater but, it shouldnt be that bad, this much duration will kill the low speed intake air velocity which could explain the soft response. A stock 305 would light em up with a 4.56!!!!! gear, even if it ran bad. My first engine that I built a (350) I listened to my friends dad that didnt know *** and set it 180 degrees out. Grandmaw! told me to get on it, it wouldnt spin in wet grass w/3.73 gears, but the darn thing ran and sounded great w/no power at all. The oil pan started pouring oil so I pulled the engine and reset it, fixed the leak. The engine still runs great after 10 years. This engine had a 452/452 lift and 230/230 dur w/109 lsa, good street cam.

If your truck is a 2wheel drive and 1/2 ton anything bigger will take a lot of motor. I have been in blazer a late 70's I think it was, Lowered and fast! for a truck. Probably could'a burnt rubber for awhile It had like a 1500-25 Wink stall converter
