I recently purchased a 1960 vette that had been sitting for about 25 years.  The convertible top is very tough to get up - some rusting.  My plan was to wire brush the ribbing, apply rust encapsulator, paint and lubricate.  Any thoughts on the best lubricant for this?  Any other suggestions or things I should look out for?

Thanks.

stainless steel wire toothbrushes from the hardware store have a fine enough bristles to do a decent job..... try to get the ones with a wooden handle...  not the plastic handle sets..

you might also want to check a few hardware stores..  for a Zoom spout oiler.. its a little bottle of turbine oil...  with a pull out straw so you can get it deep into hard to reach places with just a few drops of oil....

there is a 6 inch long straw under the red cap that pulls out to dispense a drop where you want it...

MO98 LRG

cost about 3 bucks ...

HVAC supply stores also sell it...
