I am restoring this 70' corvette that has been sitting for 10-12 years. ive been doing pretty good on fixing it. just i have this part that i broke trying to take corosion off of it. it was on the drivers side on top of the valve cover. its rectangular and has a coil inside of it, has two screws on both sides of it. two wires went to it. one went to the coil and one to the distributor. i need help on what its called and where i can get a new one from

Maybe its a multiple spark discharge ignition you get a complete burn on each compression stroke meaning faster starts and more power. Iam not a 100% sure if thats what it is. Sounds like some kind of hot coil, does it look factory?

does your distributer have points and condenser inside...

or a rotating star (reluctor) and an outer star disc with arrows pointing inward with a big magnet and a coil of wire under it..( PICK UP COIL.)..   you might have the Transistor ignition .. and you might have broken the transistor ignition module...

take some pictures of it.. post them to photobucket.  com... and post the 4th link here in this text... so we can all see what you are talking about...

try photo bucket.. post the bottom link... it really does work...

looks like a factory part going by the pic waynep7122
sent you . I was thinking aftermarket, hotter spark performance. Good luck on your build.
