I have a 62 Bel Air passed down from my grandpa with the original inline 6 and three on the tree, but it hasn't been ran in over 15 years and needs major restoration under the hood, the body is pretty solid but does have a couple of holes and serious rust, and needs a whole lot of TLC. I was thinking of putting a fuel injected 4300 (350 Vortec) out of a 98 Silverado in it, but i don't know what kind of tranny to pair it with or what kind of modifactions i would have to do or that would be needed to hook it up and run it. Any kind of tips or advice would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks
Josh

4300 does NOT equal 350 Vortec

Depends on whether you want the injection or plan to convert the motor to carburetion.

How much work (and MONEY) do you want to put into this project? If you are prepared to go all the way, I'd go with the fuel injection set up along with the tranny from the truck. there are aftermarket setups to eliminate the factory PCM and tranny controller. Should be a great project.

I plan on going all the way with it eventually, but as of this moment i just want to get it as a running project. So whatever i pull the motor from pair it with the same tranny?

So today i found a guy looking to sell a LT1 and 4L60E out of a 94 Caprice but it needs a computer. Is that worth looking into???
