joseluis84 welcome to CHP.

Here are the 2 cams of choice. They are Comp Cams Hydraulic Roller retrofit cam kit. When you order any new cam make sure you get the get the Matched Valve Springs  for the cam. If you order the Cam Kits they should have all the parts you'll need. Just 3 Questions

1.What Rear gear ratio are you running?
2.How tall are your rear tires?
3.Car your using?

My first Cam Choice
Comp Cam Extreme Enery Cam. P/N 12-422-8  Grind #XR270HR
Good to use with a stock torque convertor and exhuast. Aftermarket intake manifold, and 3:70-4:10 Rear Gears
1600-5400RPM   .218/.224 Dur. @.050  .495/.502 Max Lift
110* Lobe Seperation 106* Intake Center/Line

With the parts you have and NO MORE then a 10:1 compression for pump gas. You Can probably make 350 Horse Power.

2nd Choice for a Cam
Comp Cam Extreme Energy Retrofit kit.
Cam P/N 12-423-8  Grind #XR276HR
This is a performance Cam. Has a Nice performance Choppy Idle, and requires at least a 2,000 Plus RPM Stall Convertor. Aftermarket intake, headers, and Gear 3:70 to 4:10

Cam Specs. 1900-5600 RPM .224/.230 Dur. @.050  .502/510 Max Lift with Modified Heads
110* Lobe Seperation 106* Center/Line

If you make all the changes and modify your heads, maybe 375 Horse Power.

JoseLuis make sure you order the Extreme Energy Retrofit Cam Kit.

your rear gear raito is insane with the truck you describe.Unless you live One eigth of a mile at a time. it really won't be any fun after a short time.

The heads you have, are they modified facotry heads? They sound like machined 882s or something similar....74cc chamber w/machining for bigger valves...just trying to figure out what he's got.

Heay Guys

Is this a pulling truck by chance?

The 4:82 Rear Gear is OKAY if you have a 33" Tall Tire...
But as the Skylark said thats a lot of Rear Gear.
They The Mazda P/U were geared very low because they had a 5 speed transmission, and a very tall tire....
and they were a truck!

On the Cylinder Heads, just make sure you have the Clearances between the Valve Spring Retainer and the top of the Valve stem (Guide)...

Joseluis84
What is your main purpose (Use for your truck).

The Cam choices I posted for you are for the head you posted. They are the biggest for what you Posted.

Your heads: THE INTAKE SIDE: Gasket match and go 1" into the throat of the Intake Port of the Cylinder Head, smooth any area that may have excessive casting flash and then do the same to the  Intake Manifold. Then Bowl clean up and port to the Edge just under the the Intake Valve. "Some FYI" don't over do smoothing the intake side. Use the tootsie rolls to claen the intake port.

The Exhaust Side. Gasket Match to your Header size only. NO BIGGER.
Clean the Bowl area Under the Exhaust Valve. Smooth any casting with tootsie rolls.

Jegs or Summit Sell porting and Polishing kits. I don't suggest doing this unless you have experience with Porting Cylinder Heads.... Grin  Cool

WHAT IS THE GOAL FOR YOU AND YOUR MAZDA TRUCK? We need to know this or we can't steer you in the right direction.

What is your BUDGET? Remembering that Horse Power cost money. It did in my day and it does today. Today you can make a phone call, and have your parts tomorrow...Not in my day...lol...

A:We need to know this as your wanting to make some Horse Power, will be limited to that. To much HP for the street and you will be miserable with your Mazda.

B:If its a full time Drag Race Truck we need to know that

C: if its part/time street/strip we need to know that! How much street? How much strip?

D:If it's a Pulling Truck we need to know that

If you don't give us the input we need we can't help you. You came to the right Forum if you want to go fast,BUT help us to help you

MSD ignition is a good start. But what type of Distributor do you have?

Now if you read what I posted about your Horse Power Numbers. I said somewhere in the 350 to 375 Horse Power depending on your Cam. You can find some horse power in your tune up.

Your Mazda Truck is a light weight. 350 HP will get that moving rather quickly.

If you want another 40 Horse Power? Put the Gen 1 cylinder heads in the corner for another project. Then purchase a set of aftermarket cylinder heads. Okay.
With that said here is whatelse can be done.

This is for an example only"

1:Aftermarket cylinder heads then you can go to the following!

2:Bigger Camshaft

3:Bigger carburetor (Maybe a 750 double Pumper)?

4:Rear Gear is Okay

5:May need to redo your trans or risk blowing it up

6:More stall speed for your convertor

7:The list will get bigger as your expectations get bigger, and your Budget will dwindle...
