364779 366 68-88 Truck Tall deck

T0125AAX   this looks like the code where we get the 3-letter application suffix code but AAX does not return anything at Chevymania.com

SS, If I was in your position.,. I would NOT sink a buch of money into a 366.,. the heads are peanut ports and totally unsuited for any performance.,. 3 ring pistons for the small bore 366 will not be cheap.
Seeking out a 454 BB might be cheaper in the long run.
IF, your engine were a 427 then there would be potential, with better heads.

It looks like summitracing carries 4 ring pistons for this engine.

+1 tuff the 366 is not worth putting much money into.

So,lets say I spend close to $800.00 in total to get the engine completely rebuilt and mounted back in the car and running. Will this be reasonable for this 366 engine project? and is this rebuilt 366 a good combo with a 350 trans? This of coarse until I am able to get my hands on a real 396 with a 400 trans. This is the best I can do for now with the budget on hand. The exterior and interior of the car is looking really great. To bad there's always an A-Hole Mad  out there that always wants to get over.I am in P.R. and good engines like 396,427 and 454 are scarce.I will not give up and one day I know I will have my Chevelle clone like many others in the muscle world. Thanks you all for the pro help.Great forum. Peace. Smile

$800 is an acceptable amount to pay, in order to get your car running.,. but forget about any kind of performance mods on the 366.
Just put it together, enjoy it and start looking for a 396, 402, 427 or 454 Big Block.

Here is another site that will help in the engine identification department. This site goes through spells where it's not available for a day or two at a time.

GOOD LUCK

OK, after a bad car accident, I am back and still kicking. Here's what I found. My 396 engine is not only, Not a car engine from 1969, but a truck engine from 1968.To add vinegar to the wound, it is a 366 engine(casting # 364779)! I look up 366 engines for 68 trucks and nothing but negative comments show op. Also there is another # I found on the engine, T0125AAX, if anyone knows what this # is for, please do educate me.Is this engine really that bad? So far all has been cleaned up, the bores are cut at 40 over but still no 4 ring piston heads to be found. What are my alternatives, if any, utilizing this same engine. Had I had money to play I would just install another engine. Unfortunately I don't! So you experts or vets out there, tell me what can I do with what I have.Piston heads have these numbers on the inside, 3856253 and on the opposite side 8067, on the top of the heads, these # appear Z-12-M-14 37. Peace.

Yap a 427 Tall Block. Get ride of it, it's only trouble down the road. Really all parts are expensive and then will take a Dyno to see were an problems will came up.
