can i adjust my door gaps on my camaro without the weather stripping or do they need to be on the door

I prefer to make adjustments with the weatherstrips, glass, trim, and latch in place. However fitting without weatherstrips usually works out OK, its just less accurate so some re-adjustment may be needed.

thx's so much for the help.i adjusted the door before without the weatherstrips and painted and installed new weather strips and the door did not want to close.it seemed like it was in a bind.

You're welcome, and thats a common situation. If there are any places where it drags really bad rubber against rubber like at the U-seal, you can trim those a little with a razor blade while the rubber is still new, to prevent those spots from tearing up and getting too shaggy looking. Aftermarket stuff never will fit like GM stuff did. Anyway, its not unusual to have to slam the doors for a little while until the rubber flattens out some. Warmer weather will help, and you can always adjust the striker out a little for now then bring it back in once the new weatherstrips relax.

Yeah if it has a big block that could sure cause door fitment issues  Shocked Especially if its a stick car.
