So parked my 1950 Chevy for the winter last Oct . Did some work to her over the winter installed new gear drive new plugs wires new in line fuel pump nothing to big . When I parked the car there were no oil leaks . Well put new oil and filter on went and fired her up last night for the first time this season and that's when I discovered a oil leak back left it looks like its coming out between the head and the block.
I am not sure where to start ? I am terminal ill an this car is what my boys and I do for fun .
Please advise of next step to take

If you know a mechanic real well he might give you some black-light dye to put into you oil. Run the motor a little while, 15-20 minutes should be good, and have the mechanic use his black-light to trace exactly where it's leaking.

Otherwise it's mirrors and bright light to follow the oil trail to its source.

GOOD LUCK

Chaz1950 welcome aboard. Sorry to hear about your health. It sucks when you can't do what you want to do! Spend quality time with your family.....They will remember it...

Now when you say the left back of the engine. Are you sitting in the car?
1.Sitting in the car you would be in the left rear corner of the block.
2.Sitting in the car the passenger side would be considered the right side.
3.If you have an oil leak in the left rear,is the leak high on the engine?
4.Or is the leak low on the engine?

Low I would redo the oil filter.I would start in the oil filter area first...
1.Is the oil filter tight or over tightened. Either way you can get an oil leak.
2.The only other thing that could be leaking is a oil pressure fitting that sits behind the distributor....
Try those areas first, and let us know.
