What's wrong with "Old School"? If your Grand Dad is there to help you then learn from him.
You can purchase some books to get you up to speed, and I'm sure your Grand Dad will learn from them also.
www.cartechbooks.com  They have an assortment of books to learn from. Don't knock old school. Grand Dad does things his way you do things your way. You will both have fun doing it. Remember the time you spend with your grand dad you will always remember make it fun for you both.....

You shouldn't need to have anything done to them. Those heads should be able to support a 400 hp 350. Throw on an edlebrock performer rpm intake with a 1 inch spacer and a 750 holly. For a cam go for 240 duration and 480-500 lift and you should be good to go!

Stock they go .450-.480. Clearance is up to .525. A .480 valve lift is good for 375-400 hp.

Talk to your machinist about what you're trying to do. He can advise on work needed for the cam you intend to use.

Stock is .450 to .480, .480 will get you 400hp no prob but if you want to run a .500 lift or higher machining is highly recommended.
