377 or 383 build up? I am torn between which engine to build. I have found two dart blocks for sale, used but not bored over more than 25. One is 350 bore and one is 400 bore both 350 mains. The top end that I am wanting to put on this is brodix 11x heads with a 54cc combustion camber, 235cc intake, 2.100 intake valve 1.600 exhaust, custom ground cam 655/638 lift 294/298 duration. Jesel shaft rockers 1.5/1.6 ratio. Hilborn 2 7/16 stack injectors.  Titanium valves and keepers. Je  foeged dome high compression pistons for either motor. A set of Oliver ultra light 6.000 rod with a small 2.000 rod journal. Was going to buy block and crank match my choice. Was going to purchase Callie's magnum XL crank. Have been running all this same exact stuff on a 383. It was a damn strong engine combo. Turned it around 86-9000 with no problems. Spun a rod bearing didn't hurt anything but crank rods and rear main on block.  Have been hearing that the destroked 377 was a lot better for what I have and application. Also I'm running this setup on methonal. Any reviews would be very helpful any suggestions on which one??

if your looking for high RPMs, ill jump on the 377 bandwagon because of the shorter stroke.      whats the motor going in?   intended purpose?

It's a circle track car. Weighs about 1500 pounds.  My rpms normally don't go below about 45-5 grand. I'm looking for more hp and tq above 5000-9000 that's my normally operating range. My friend at the engine shop that does all my machine work talked me out of building a 377 the first time said I would make more tq with 383. But after doing some research I'm not sure if he was on the track.

the drawback to the 377 is using bearing spacers, they can spin.   but since your using a dart block with 350 mains, i dont see a problem.     if you buy the 400 block and dont like the 377, you can always turn it into a 400.   its the same stroke as a 383 anyway, 3.75.
you must have a pretty serious valvetrain set-up for those RPMs?
thats a very light race car.   must be a blast to drive? Cool
     oh, welcome to CHP!

Well the only reason I'm considering the 377 is I have a new set of pistons for that, that I got for free and a set of 388 pistons which are for the same 3.48 stroke crank and 6.000 rod but with a 40 over bore instead of 30. Therefore I get a more cost efficient motor in the long run. And yes I have one heck of a valve train setup.  Yes it is a blast to drive. Im figuring the 383 I was running made 700hp maybe a little more. Just don't want to loose any power or anything if I go the 377 route.

Please read about Tuffenuff's Mighty Mouse engine, what was intended for this build was an affordable, high RPM engine and the combo of a 327 crank/400 block made over 600 HP at around 7200 and was flowing at over 100% VE W/A210cc head, you can get the Dart Block with 400 bore and 350 mains, you can get the 327 crank with either Main size Now so Spacers aren't needed.

P.S. the reason the combo isn't popular is rule makers made the bore size Max.at 4.060 to keep the engines around 355ci,the Mighty Mouse is far superior at 352ci. so what is the CI rules and stuff in that class, a 3.48 stroke will make more torque and rev right there with it but again the displacement grows buy 25 cubes too!
