ghazzi:

What size engine are you intending on building. This way we can help you make some good choices as to your needs.

Fill in some blanks for us. Street/Strip, Strip only those type questions and fill in the blanks. Grin  Cool
Do you have a competition TH350...There are a lot of combos and good parts today.

Going fast has never changed,it cost money back in the day and it still cost money. How deep are your pockets? It's that simple.

500hp will not be easy but it could be done. I don't know if your budget is big enough.
You will need professionally ported heads, over sized heavy duty valves, full long tube headers, full out solid roller cam and rockers with some healthy springs to handle the 7500-8000 rpm speeds. Forged pistons with at least 12-1 compression, heavy duty rods and a good crank all balanced of course. Modified induction system, high capacity fuel injectors and pump. I may have left some things out but that will get you in the right direction.
I built a 375hp LT1 with head work, big valves, cam, headers, RRs and a few other things I cannot remember right now. It ran well but that is a long way from 500hp.

That's why we ask the questions we ask. A 500 horse power engine for the street is questionable. It's borderline at 450 horse power...then

I agree with Dave632 you need alot of good parts that will take a pounding. Engines with power levels that you want can be built.

There are other alternatives. NOS, Turbo charging,Super Charging.

Hi there,
 Forget the 500hp target.
Even when you go over the budget to get it
you will hate it after a few weeks.
No matter what gearing you have it will drive you
NOT you driving it..The constant maintenance
will outway the driving pleasure..There will be
will be more incidental and miscellaneous work
than you can imagine..E.G. Body stress // high
driveline loading and Handling with tyres to say
the least. Think about it..Is it all worthwhile??.
The $6000 will be the 1st rung on a long ladder..
 The choice is yours...Good luck...Skyeking..
