i somehow came across this on craigslist today. Frown http://tampa.craigslist.org/psc/pts/3299181557.html

some of you know my best friend Pat died awhile back.  this is the box MY cam came in.  i noticed my handwriteing on the box!    i had a used cam that i gave Pat.  i musta put the cam in this box.   we then put the factory cam in this box i guess and he stored it for some reason.  even if he bought a new cam that i was unaware of, how did my hand writing get on the box?   i guarentee the lifters are old and used.  i would be pizzed if i drove far only to look at an old used, factory cam and lifters.  shes in the hospital right now, so i didnt call her.  i didnt flag it so you guys could see the pics.    buyer beware!    its stuff like this that keeps me away from used stuff.  i will tell her to pull it off craigslist when she gets out.    just thought it might be a good lesson for newbies, etc.

I think Jpatt was looking to buy a rear from someone on Craigslist.

I thought we had me convinced him to build a 9" Ford rear. Even those rears can fool you. The 8.8" and the 9.5" You better know your stuff when it comes to buying anything on Craigslist. If you didn't bring a tape measure your screwed Period...
With E-Bay you can check the seller out. But even then you can get scammed. My wifes girlfriend was a victim of a "Bait and Switch" scam. We fooled him and his wife. We showed up at his door, but we took the Police. Guess what there was bait and switch...He tried to say that the wrong DVD player was put in the shipping box...
           THANK'S FOR THE HEADS UP...

OMG

YOU (the buyer) have to be sooo careful what you buy from eBay and from ESPECIALLY Craigslist.

Locally, there have been several groups of Craigslist scam-artists get busted for selling various electronics and other stolen items.

On a positive note, I had an awesome Ebay experience today...awesome guy, excellent deal.

I became the proud "papa" of fraternal twins today...Joe ought to get it...I'll post pics when they're ready...still have to get "new" one off the truck  Smile

I've always used it just to unload good parts at junk prices in bad times. if it ain't local, screw it! Bought my black car off it but the owner was a cop's wife and I got what I paid for. Never tried ebay.

Scott-  Confused  What'd you git?

I personally have had good luck on E Bay.
I have purchased a couple of hundred things and only had problems a couple of times.
Both times E Bay backed me up and refunds or adjustments were given.
I have recently started selling on E Bay and so far I have not had problems. I am not dealing in car parts however.
Even the few things I have bought from Craigslist have been OK and so have my Craigslist sales. Once again, no car parts and I pick up the items personally.

cam selection depends on desired performance, use of vehicle, and type of vehicle

otherwise get the one at the bottom of the catalog page

then be prepared to be disappointed with performance

I agree with you. I may not have purchased a couple hundred things on E BAY. But maybe close to that.I never had a problem, and I purchased some expensive parts from people on there. Just watch their feedback. It's that simple. The way E-Bay's system is set-up now, and if someone tries to scam you as Dave said E-Bay is right behind you... Grin  Cool

I've only bought a few things on eBay and haven't had any problems thus far. As Bob said, watch the seller's feedback, read the comments, and most importantly, read the entire ad before bidding. Several times I've found what I considered deal breakers in the item description, well below the headline and picture.

One seller only accepted cash from one mint printed after a specified date.

Nowadays, scam can be found everywhere. Its not just ebay or craiglist. It is everywhere. So buy anything from anywhere, just be cautious.

Hi there,
Scams start at the top of business and filter down hill...
Very rarely do they start from ground zero...Skyeking..
