I would like info on converting a 1972 Nova from Mono Leaf springs to Multi Leaf springs.  Is this a hard/involved job and who would be a good source for parts ?  It is my understanding that only the SS models came with Multi Leaf springs. Smirk

Thanks

I am sure the mounting brackets on the rear axle are different, I am thinking the leafs are the same for a camaro body.  Can you measure the spring from eye to eye? I have a whole camaro rear end with leafs attached that I can measure to see if they are the same.

Base V-8 and six cylinder cars came with mono-springs. Anything above the base V-8 had multi-leaf springs (same way for the Camaro).

The biggest part of this conversion is wleding on multi-leaf perches to your current rear. Since the Nova and Camaro used the same rear, your best bet would be to find a multi-leaf 10-bolt from a 2nd gen Camaro, unless you know a good rear end shop in your area that can properly cut the old perches off your current rear, and weld on new multi-leaf perches.

The rest of the swap is super easy. You just need the springs, and multi-leaf shackles to mount them in the rear.

I know that you will definately have to either change the leaf spring perches on your rear end or make spacers. im not sure about the 72 novas but my 74 isnt an ss and mine came with multi leaf springs. and if your looking to get rid of your mono leafs im lookin for a set!!!

i have 2 10 bolt rears one is out of a 75 camaro and one is out of a 73 nova and the rear from the camaro is wider than the nova rear and the leaf spring perches are in different spots so i would watch using one from a camaro

If you have the multileaf springs and want to do it on the low cost side all you need is longer u bolts and nuts. If you want to do it better then u bolts, nuts and Mopar spring perches. To do it right is OG mutileaf perchers with a mutileaf kit on multileaf springs. Click on pics for more 411-
