I have a Pontiac/buick/olds turbo 400 transmission and I want to hook it up to my chevy 406, is there an adapter or new bellhousing... anything I can do to hook it up without having to get a new transmission?

Thanks,
mike

yes most likely you will need the dowels, because with the addition of the adapter plate you will need longer dowel pins.

Remember the dowel pins align the trans to the engine NOT the bolts, otherwise your runout may be off and that would kill the front pump bushing.

So make sure they specify that they are the longer ones, I think those adapers are just under 1/4 inch thick.

Just a thought, you may need to install a washer between the converter and flexplate to shim it back to maintain the engagement to the pump.
