I have what is believed to be a 62 or 63 model year 327 engine. Casting code 3782870 and Date code G32. Cannot figure out engine ID code F07IOR.  No VIN found on block.  Can someone please help decode this code? Confused

Might be a warranty block and then you'll never find out more than what you know now,,,

I too have a 327 chevy motor and it has the splash pan that attachs to the main caps. Block code is 3858174  FI220HC is stamped on the front of the block. I have not found the date code. I found the information on the Block code as 1962 to 1964 327 275 to 350 HP. This does not tell me if it came out of a Vet! The code on the block has me confused I know the F but not the I. I think that the 2 is February and the 20 is the date. I further thought that the H was for the lifter type and the C could be Corvette. Does anyone know if this is correct?

Thank you,

Paul 69

hey paul, your motor appears to be a 64-67, 327.   your "hc" code says 65-69, 327 & 350.  impala, nova, chevelle & camaro.   i would guess it to be out of an impala.   your "hc" is your suffix code & has nothing to do with hydraulic or corvette.
