chevy 350 trying to get 400 hp

i got a chevy 350 and i am trying to get around 400 hp out of it. whats the best and cheapest way to do this without boring?

400HP is not going to be cheap and if the engine needs to be bored then it should be done.

so i couldnt get 400hp out of a 350 by just heads, cam, pistons, ect. i would have to bore the block?

Boring the block does not make a lot more power but if the cylinders are worn then you will need to bore it.
I will list heads, cam, and intake and carb. and parts to reach your goal.

+1 Pman boring is not a performance modification but a repair operation.

The amount of displacement gained by overboring is insignificant for power output purposes. Smile

I'd buy a set of vortec heads for Scoggin Dickey set up with better valve springs.  And change the cam, and intake.

Always think of it this way. If an engine is considered a good engine making 1hp per ci(ie 350ci=350hp), then boring an engine .030 only adds about 6 ci. So you're looking at anywhere from 5-10hp at the most. There is honestly no benefit in boring an engine, that doesn't need to be done. Now at the same time if you were building an all out drag motor, you would bore and stroke it to the max, with the intent to make as much horsepower as possible. In these situations 5-10hp can make a world of difference. You'll have a 32 car field and the fastest car runs say a 4.60 and the slowest is in a high 4.70...This is where every little bit makes a world of difference. But long story short(too late I know), it will in no way be of a benefit to you...

what is cheap to you? holly has a 425hp top end kit for 1,200$ and then you can just worry about getting the bottom done.
   but even that might be to much for you.
