Question:  I love the old Corvette 350 HP hydraulic (151) cam, but I need to use it in a 350 with both power steering and brakes.  Will it allow enough intake vacuum to operate power brakes.

You should not have any vacuum problems with that cam it is pretty mild.

What do you think of this cams spec. as far as plenty of vacuum for power brakes.  Is 112 LSA enough for good power brakes?  I just want a decent street cam.  I'm not going to being racing anybody!

That cam will be great on the street and have smooth idle.  Less overlap and not too much duration will keep the vacuum where you need it.

+1,,,
The old nostalgia 350/350 cam is great for a classic like yours, but the cam was designed over 40 years ago and the modern dual patterns will deliver more power and still give you vacuum for brakes and ignition advance. 112 LSA is good for the street.

+1 tuff I agree the lobe profiles are much improved over the old designs, now says the same lift and duration cam will out perform older cams.

Hi there,
  KEEP that Cam.I have used a 214/224.
No difference if you have a 1/2 way
decent exhaust system in your rig..
There  will be NO vacuum problems.
and it is tuneable with 10/36*.
It may be an oldy but So am I and I can
hand it out and send it down anytime
you may come looking. Do what YOU want
 and good luck. Skyeking

+1 The 56 looks awesome. With the current state of today's motor oil, I would recommend looking into a roller cam. More money, no doubt, perhaps not in the long run.

Nomads are great looking, but I actually prefer the 210 Wagon to the Nomad because it is a little more like a Hot Rod in looks.  I also think the '56 210 Delray Hardtop is the best looking of all '56 Chevys.   I like the taller, more 50's hot rod look a little better than the Bel Air, Nomad styling.  For you youngsters, the fastest cars in the late 50's and early 60's were usually 150 business coupes and 210 Delrays bought new from the GM dealer and ordered with Corvette drive lines.  Cool   Your Dad bought a Bel Air with a Powerslide!   Smile

I took some advice and ordered a Comp Cams XE262H. With roller rockers, 64. CC. alumn. heads, Edelbrock Performer Manifold and a new Edelbrock 600 it should get me to the Cruise Nights and back. I don't need it to be too fast. I've got that unmentionable "Furd" car I'm putting a Rousch super charger on to go fast (435 hp/400 torque). If that breaks I just take it to the dealer! Not as easy with a '56 210 Wagon so I'm careful with this one.

Thanx for the Advice,

Mr. D
