i need some help with a 377 stroker that i am trying to build i am 20 years old and know how to turn a wrench but i dont no who to build a good weekend warrior motor so im hoping you guys cam help. right now i have the short block which has all forged internals, and a has a hyd flat tappet cam which the lift is .519/.523 also i was told by the guy i got the short block from that with 64cc heads it has 11.1 comp. What heads and intake would make the best of this combo and what size carb would i need to fuel it, is this a good cam or should i swap it to something different and how much power can i expect to produce.It will be going into a 1977 camaro that has a build th350 with a 3000 stall 3:73 gears an electric holly blue fuel pump 3inch flowmaster exhaust. Any help you guys can give me would great thanks

Hi there,
  If you have flat top pistons even with zero
  deck height you cannot get 11/1 comp..[64s.]
  Maybe 10.2 approx which is good enough.
  Need cam specs to help further on stally.
  Leave  head advice to others who know what
  suits the valve lift.195/200's are all you need.
  377 is good choice . Barry Grant 725 road Demon
  or 750 speed demon would go well amongst others.
     Good luck with project

IMO I would go with an 930 Holley. The least would be a 750.

If you run a .024 head gasket you will be @11.25:1 and if you use .040 gasket you will be @10.75:1. These are guesses based on 4.155 bore, with 3.48 stroke, deck hight and valve reliefs to name a few will make a bit of a difference.

This is the closest cam I found thats a hyd with those numbers, again it's a guess without more info on the cam. Cam looks good, you need to make sure if it's a hyd or mech, alot more mech have spec close to this one.

ekf,,,
How do we go about building a stroker 377 with a 3.48" crank,,,
I was alwas under the impression that a 3.75" stroke crank was needed for a stroker engine.
I'm curious about this trick crank you mention.

Davida,(hope that's right) are you employing a 400 block with a 350 crankshaft? that is a great combo if that is what your referring to and may be referred to as a destroked 400. do you know the maker of the camshaft,what do the pistons look like (and maker) do you have a budget for heads and intake 1000 dollars can get you some good ones and what are you going to do with the car mon.-fri.that is a good sounding car combo but with a TH350 could be a bit much in gear and stall for a daily driver.but that is an ongoing discussion here as in What Is Streetable posted by 65impala.just a bit more info please so we can try to make a simi intelegent response.

No trick crank
it's not a stroker, but a destroker

4.155=.030 400 block
3.48= stock stroke 350 Crank
Main Bearing Spacer= needed to fit stock Chevy crank into a 400 block

i have a budget of about 1700 dollars for the heads intake and carb but i do also already have an edelbrock performer intake and a 750 performer series carb. The car will mainly be driven on weekends

summit world and dart all make good heads for this combo stay around 195cc intake ports to keep up air flow speed make sure the heads you choose have springs that can handle that lift or get comps spring kit and bare heads there are good intakes avail.but unless its just race go with a duel plane you won't need any more than a 750cfm carb for either way.

i agree with lark.

if wanting to go cheap holly has a package with cam,lifters,alumin. 2.02 1.60 heads, that they say makes 420 horse with 10:1 compression headers and 750 carb. i dont know if thats true or not but i have the same .490 .490 lunati and like it. the kits like 1500 bucks.

i would also stay with the 400 if not tryin to build some very high rpm winding motor. the 400 would be better for more lower street torque kind of motor.

X2
The least I would go with would be a 400. If I had to buy a crank I would go with the scat 4" crank with their rods and make it a 433. When you use bearing spacers they are a pain in the a$$. Shop has to know what they are doing to install them and even then you can still have bearing life issues. Ran a 377 several times and on tear downs bearings always looked abused.

this ought to make a high winder!  comp cams has a similar roller cam with lifters & gear drive for about $700 -$900, depending on the kit you pick."thumper series".    patriot performance seems to have some fairly priced aluminum heads for $8-900., pr. maybe they can upgrade the valve springs for a little more?     but youd be in the ballpark moneywise.       down the road the rest is just bolt-ons when you can afford em.get a good single plane and gasket match it. roller rockers? stud girdle? add a good ignition one day and you could be seeing 8,000 rpm!  just a thought.
