smog requirements for 1980 camaro in california

hi,my name is al,i want to remove a 6 cylinder engine from my camaro and instal a 350 motor. the question i have is what the state of california has to say about the smog reuirements;if i install a same year engine or later year engine?

You can only swap to the same year or a later engine.The engine must have all the original OEM smog equipment when time to smog test.

ya it has to be no older than 1980. and an offered engine size for that year. i live in cali also and am doing the exact same thing (sort of) i pulled the original 165HP/245ft.lbs of torque 305cu and replaced it with a GM Good Wrench 310HP/370ft.lbs. of torque 350cu.in. crate motor from jegs. i also installed a edlebrock 3701 smog legal intake, edlebrock smog legal shorty headers for an '82 camaro. and everything is working out awesome!!!
