I have a set of old chevy heads with the casting 041. Everyone tells me to hold on to them because they're a good flowing head. I have no idea what I have in my posession. Can you tell me what they are and the power potential of them. I'm about to build a 406 sbc and I would like to have some good old school cast iron heads on them. If those are the way to go, let me know.

The #041 head was a good performance casting back in the day, obviously it's been outpaced by the aftermarket and some late-model OE stuff for 20 years by now...

Keep in mind that you will need a pretty large dish piston crown to keep compression at pump gas levels for a 406.

I won't discuss power potential unless we're talking about an entire combination.

The heads you have are decent heads they have 64cc chambers and came with 1.94/1.50 or 2.02/1.60 valves.
