I'm ready to rebuilt it, and bought a rebuilting a small block book.

I looked in the how to id your motor section by casting numbers and can't find my numbers listed?

HELP!!!

#4088548,

it also has some other markings CFD/548

LS 3 (some dots) 203

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Try this link for casting numbers... http://www.nastyz28.com/sbchevy/sblock.html#casting

Look at your block again, you may have missed the first number, a 1, for 14088548, this crosses to a 1986-1994 350 block. There is a lot of info on this site and my help you to completely identify your block. Also has codes for heads, intake, exhaust, cranks, etc.

you have missed the 1 in front of your number.go back and look closer and i think you will find it.FYI what you have is an 86-94 350.Not exactly adream engine but it should be a place to start.

Well the 3 letter 3 number on the front you are finding is the original vehicle.  The first letter  "C"  means car instead of "T" for truck.

The casting numbers make me wonder if it is a target master engine but

the closest i can find is 14083505 84-85  350. 3998993 is the highest i can find then thy jump to 6259425. Is the oil filler tube in the front of the intake manifold? Is the engine red original paint?

This should read 14088548, this is a 86-88 heavy duty truck block using a flat tappet cam and has a onepiece rear main seal. These usually are 4 bolt blocks, but some came with only 2 bolt caps. This is a great starting point for either a truck or high performance engine as these are pretty tough blocks. If this is a complete engine, the heads need to be replaced as the originals represent the typical low compression, lazy combustion chamber of the era.
