I highly urge you to stay away from a single plane intake manifold for this engine...

Consider the plenum volumes of intake manifolds today, what is the most common displacement for big blocks today? The answer is 460+ cubic inches! That means if the plenum/intake runners are fit for a 450 cubic inch engine, they will be much too large for your tiny 402!

Since you have a very small engine with a stock cam that will be making its power low in the rpm range a single plane is of little to no benefit. A dual plane intake manifold like the Edelbrock Performer RPM or Weiand Stealth would much better suit your engine and would have significant gains over the victor Jr. below 4000 rpm.

The original Performer would be my pick on a stocker.    WIEDER

With only changing one part from the stock combo, the intake on your engine would be around 10hp and 10-15 torque roughly. You add headers the intake will take in a little more air, then change to higher flowing heads and........can of worm syndrome. Laugh    WIEDER

I run a 402 in my monte, get a edelbrock performer rpm airgap, hvh street sweeper 4-hole tapered spacer, 5-piece hooker super competition headers, MSD Digital-6, Barry Grant 750 Speed Demon, Comp Cams XE268H, 049 oval-port heads, pocket-porting...406hp @ 5000rpm, 472ftlbs. @ 2500rpm..
The 402 in my Monte is radical, 575hp @ 6000rpm, 571ftlbs @ 4500rpm

I just put a 402 in a 71 k5, I did a .030 overbore, wieand stealth intake, hyper pistons and chromoly rings,241 large oval port heads pocket ported, hooker long tube headers,770 holley truck avenger carb and a RV2 cam dur. @.050 I.204  E.214, sae dur. I282  E292 and valve lift of I.476  E.503. Any well educated guess on the numbers this will put out are apperitated.
