Fred there are so many Ways to modify sbcs in good and bad ways.In order for someone to even attempt an answer with as little if as you have posted would be wrong.
Fredsvette65If your engine as a lot of miles on it, the best thing to do is a compression test, then a leak down test. Small Block Chevys respond to just about any induction modification you do to it. If yours is a 4 speed you will want to know what rear gear ratio you have. A few years back I did what I a will call a mild tune up on his 64 Vette. The engine was coming out to be rebuilt. Here is all I did.1.Back then I chose a Weiand street intake manifold.2.I did a set of double hump (#186) casting heads. theheads were ported 2" down into the intake and exhaust runner. The heads were then Bowl Blended we installed Ferrara 2.01"intake vales, and 1.64" exhaust valves.3.We did a 4 angle valve job.4.The Cam we used was the Crane Factory 350 Horse power/327 cam. Degreed the cam, and we used a CloyesDouble roller timing Chain.5.Used a set of Crane roller rockers.6.We installed a 6AL MSD ignition Box, and a MSD Vacuum advanceHEI distributor.7.The topping was a Holley vacuum secondary 750 CFM Carb.8 We ended up with a compression of 10:1:1 it will pingif we go to far on timing. Even at 36* total advance it willsnap your neck. Good LuckBob
