I'm doing my first engine rebuild out of my 89 silverado 350. I have the crank in right and bolted and torqued right. It spines easily with out pistons. Once I have my pistons in it won't spin like at all. I didn't mark where they went and where the caps went. ( remember I did say first build, I have learned my lesson) all bearing flanges are pointing out to oil pan, not came. B pistons and c pistons are in the right places. How can I get things where they would go please!!!!!!!!!

Take the pistons and rod assemblies back out back out.
Your going to have to start over again...
Your going to need a service manual.
Do that and then get back to us. Sorry
Without knowing what you did? It's hard to determine what your talking about.

Its all stock, no mods or over boring was done. its not the crank cause it turns freely with no effort. its the pistons. there are numbers on the top but there are a couple multiples of each number. im pretty sure its because i mixed up the piston caps. there are no special markings on them telling where they go. i think ill have to have the crank and the pistons re machined to fit each other, with over sized bearings. i do have a book at home, ill check it. but are there any signs that are common to look for to identify what goes to witch. put new bearings in as well, honed the cylinders, and new piston rings. used assembly lube in between bearing and crank, not in between bearing and rod. pistons also move freely when i move the crank before i torque them down. pistons are facing the right way too.

When disassembling a motor you have to mark all the rods & rod caps so you know where they came from. The rods and caps are a matched set, they cannot be replaced willy-nilly. The main caps have to go back in the same place they came from too or the crank will get eaten quickly.
Look at the big end of the connecting rods. There is a fat side and a skinny side. They only work when put in the right way.
As stated above, get a book, one with a lot of pictures.
Experience can be an expensive lesson.
