I am installing a 72 402 chevelle engine in our 1998 K3500 srw truck for towing. Miles will be 85% city stop and go under 45mph and 15% 65 mph hwy. This truck has a 4l80E and 4.10's and had oem sbc power. Have the TCI tcm and factory pcm/wiring is gone. So far I have a summit K1300 cam, edelbrock performer 2-0 intake and headman shorty headers. The 402 is at the machinest getting .030 bore, .020/.020 crank cut, 8.75-1 pistons and a hv pump, Holley 080555c carb. Valves are 2.19I/1.88E and bowls are blendedand short turn radius redone due mostly to having to put the big valves in the damaged small valve heads to repair them. Is there anything else I should be doing for more low/mid power?
IMOstroke itbump cr to about 9.25 or a hair more
If it did the job for you before your teardown? Leave it as it was. Just put a torque cam in it that will make power to about 3200 RPM. Break the cam in the way the maker says to...Bob
