I want to install a factory tach in my el camino. It didn't have one from the factory. I was looking on ebay and saw some. It also showed some tach filters. Does anybody know what this is for?

First off does your dash have a vacant spot for the tach?
The filter is just to filter any RF noise from your engine. FOR EXAMPLE if you you were running solid steel core ignition wires so it would filter that noise so it won't bother your radio.. Or anyone near you that may have a poorly running engine, and their engine gives off RF it won't diturb your radio.
