My dad sold his 1991 Cadillac Eldorado and gave me his stock rims and tires. The tires are the exact same size of my Caprice's which are TRASH and the rims are as well. BUT the bolt pattern is smaller. My Caprice's bolt pattern is 5 x 4.75"(120.7mm) and the Cadillac's rims are 5 x 4.53"(115mm). They're not close enough to fit on but not so off that they don't even line up. I'm wondering if I can drill the holes and make them larger would they fit, SAFELY. I realize I'll probably need bigger lug nuts to secure them, but thats nothing really. Just curious if its ever been done. I realize the risk but if the lugs hold it, it should be fine right?

stop...   measure the backset first...

lay the rim face down on cardboard.. or carpet.. to prevent damage..

stick a straightedge across the back of the rim outer. measure down to the rear mounting face...

do the same on both the eldorado rims.. and your caprice rim...

if the offset is the same...

you can send the wheels to a machine shop where they can drill another set of holes offset from the existing holes..

so you will have 10 instead of 5 oval holes..

you will also want to check the center opening diameter...

you may still have to examine the caliper to wheel clearance..

read this...  don't worry that the info was written for a porsche.. the theory is the same...

Would this weaken the wheel?

Yeah it will!!! Listen to Wayne's suggestion and don't fool with it...

Those are cast wheels not a forged racing wheel. The highest loads are going around corners and thats when it will snap.....

Try selling them and put the money to something that will fit your needs....................

yea everyone's already told me it'll only work with adapters, and I've got mixed reviews on those so I'm guessing this ain't gone work

Yeah you don't want those wheels to break under a load. Not good, and we have to keep gear heads around for the next generation! LOL....
Thanks
