I rebuilt a 427 Chevy Big Block "Tall Deck" motor that came out of a dump truck.  Originally planned to put it into a '72 Pickup, but I have an opportunity to purchase a 1970 Chevelle and was wondering if anyone knows with big block motor mounts, if this motor will "easily" fit.

With the correct motor mounts it's a shoe in. Remember they were built with 396 and 427. Just make sure when you order parts that you have a tall deck block. GOOD LUCK

Thanks Pepsi1.  Appreciate the feedback.  Was just concerned that with the extra width at the heads and the extra height, there may be some issues.

I've been off line a few days. Do you have the numbers on the heads? If so it could be a big help.

I have heard horror stories about the tall deck big blocks. Hard to fit in passenger cars, almost impossible to find performance parts for, etc. I would stay away from them.Car craft had an article some years back saying basically if you have one, use it for a boat anchor.

Your correct in assuming there are problems. There are problems with any project, especially when your making big changes as that tall deck. My advice is gets some books. www.cartechbooks.com is a great place for help.
