Good Day Everyone; My name is Aaron and I'm retired from the Army, but is present assigned in Germany supporting the war on terror. I'm in the process of bring my 72 chevy nova here and wanted to get some adivce and tips on preparing my nova for those fast long distance autobahn driving trips, long distance high speeds, winding german back streets, and etc.
Background on me and my nova: I joined the military straight out of highschool at the age of 17 and retired after 20 years in 2002. My Nova was my first car in highschool and was given to me from my father in 1980. Mother's day 2007 I saw my nova in my father's shop covered in dog hair and thing I shall not say. I towed it back to Georgia and have been restoring it since. It's 95% complete (exterior done, mechanical done, and some interior).
What I presently have in the car: 350 small block, edelbrock cam 204 214 duration, edelbrock performer intake, edelbrock timing chain and gear, edelbrock 600 series elec. choke carb., advance auto headers, dual exhaust from summit racing, HEI distr., elec. fuel pump with regulator, standard cooling fan with an elec fan for backup, standard radiator, high flow water pump, edelbrock valves, summit racing pushrods, everything else on the engine is stock, a 350 turbo hyd trans with stock column shifter, stock drive shaft, stock rearend, I converted the front drums to disc with rear still drums, 18" rims and tires, 1 1/8" front sway bar, 1" rear sway bar, and 2" scoop hood.
What do you suggest I add, remove, replace, or upgrade so my nova can handle the long range high and low speed cruising (mostly high speed), long distance driving, winding roads, possible high speed stops, and be fuel efficient due to the HIGH european fuel COST (I can get miltary fuel prices but they are still HIGH!). I've heard a FAST EZ EFI is the way to go for fuel delivery and a 200R4 or 700R4 for trans. I have to watch the budget and be cost effective/economical while getting good quality due to the financial troubles of today. Any suggestions.
Want to show off the GOOD American Muscle in Germany and keep up with the european pace of driving. Protecting America and Supporting our Great! Military!!!!!

You need to upgrade the suspension for everything you've talked about. I highly recommend getting a bolt on kit from Detroit Speed or Hotchkis. At high speeds, you need lots of suspension strength and stability.
On your engine, long high speed cruises means you need a beefy aftermarket cooler for the transmission, and the cooling for the engine needs to be very robust so you don't melt your 350. The fuel system also has ot be capable of sustained high RPMs. A good, strong ignition is also necessary.
Another must is Z rated tires and wheels strong enough for excessively high speeds.
