Hi Guy's Has anyone worked on 64 impala tilt strg. columns. I am trying to get the top part off to replace the top brg. Do you need a special puller. What holds the top mechanism on after you remove the nut off the shaft. Thanks Dwight

I have not been into the older tilt columns but on the 70s models the spring is very difficult to deal with and it binds every thing. Im not sure what you mean by (top part off) the main bearing is behind the wheel once it is removed it is easily accessed. Yes it is possible that some of the parts are (press fit)

The 70 is too new ,I am a mechanic and have worked on lots of the newer style of tilt columns. The 63 to 66 are completely different. The actual sig.switch is opperated by a cable . The upper cup is what Iam trying to get off to chg. the upper brg. Thanks Dwight
