my son has a 1989 suburban.he has a 350 bored to .040 he has 480 lift cam (im not sure what he has for sure) he had a carb and 305 heads with hei distributor and it ran well he just had to run race fuel he couldnt afford to run it on the street.he switched it back to 350 heads factory ignition and tbi.now it doent what to run its running rich and irratic.will this can cause the timing in the factory igniton to be way off?what do i need to check? any imformation will be helpful thanks

with factory fuel injection.. and electronic timing control...  you have to disconnect the bypass wire or jump the A B terminals on the aldl connector under the dash..  this locks the timing so you can use a timing light to set it..

setting the timing is described usually on the little white emissions sticker on the fan shroud... what you have to disconnect or jump to set it that is..

pull the cap and rotor if you are still having problems.. take a bright flashlight.. look straight down the shaft.. see if the tiny bit of exposed ring shaped  magnet is cracked..   it will be the second layer in the reluctor..... when it cracks.. it makes for all kind of weird problems...
