I had a set of Lemons headers made for my F Body with a 454 Big Block engine that is the standard deck height of 9.8" ---- My plans are to put a new Chevy 572 in place of the 454. The Chevy 572 has a tall deck height of 10.2 inches, which is 3/8's of an inch taller than the 454. My question is will the Chevy 572 not only be taller but will it be any wider? I have had a few people say they didn't think the engine would be wider. I'm hoping if it is wider that it will only be a half inch at the most. Hopefully less than that though. THANK YOU for any information you can share.

I think the 572 is a totally different block and yes it will be taller and wider. This engine will not bolt in place of a 454 you will have to use special mounts and build or use specific application headers.

Hi Im not sure about the 572 but i have a 427 tall deck (10.2) and i put it in a 75 f-body with only one prob my valve cover hit the brake booster but i just used a ballpein hammer and dented the back corner. it used the same mounts and the headers fit but are kinda close to the floor due to the higher block. hope this helps

Thanks to everyone for the response. I have decided to go with a Scott Shafiroff Racing Engine instead of the GM 572.
