i have a 68 camaro before i ask my question(s), here are the specs
350 4bolt bored .30
pp hurricane intake (victor jr. knock off)
750 edelbrock carb manual
performer rpm heads
crane cam hyd flat tappet(adv. duration int. 228 exh. 232)
hyfire mallory ign 55,000 volts output coil, msd conductor plugs
4.11 gears
350 trans
7psi high flow fuel pump

i also got an advance kit and here is where i have had my problem. i can't seem to get the timing right. i have been told to use total timing at 42. and i still fun very slugish i have no low end torque which i understand cums from the fact that i have a long duration cam. but even at mid to top end i just don't feel the power and when i step on the throttle at take off i bog out or start to spatter. i ahve also tried premium fuel. funny thing is the car ran better when i had a powerglide and 3.18 deags installed at least i noticed the diff at mid to top end rpm. any advice is welcome. i rally am out of ideas. should i change intake? or cam? both? what is the best set up or change to make it all work?

First off that Chinese intake is a real power killer.
What is your initial timing set at?
Do you know the compression ratio of the engine.
What is the lift on the cam?

yeah i know had a tight budget back then
initial timing is at about 20 i tried it at 12.14,and 16 runs better at about 20
the compression as about 10.5
and the cam i think is........468
honestly not sure been building it along time and lost actual specs.
for cam but i know it's a 3000-7000 rpm and the duration

Well if the cam has a power band that starts at 3000RPM and with that intake you will not have good low end torque.

true and that was the way i was wanting to build it. but what i don't understand is when i had the powerglide tranny and 3.18 gears 3000 and higher rpm i felt the power kick in. and with the 350 turbo and 4.11 gears instead of it picking up my low end torque it runs worse. only thing besides that i have changed since is the ign coil put in a hyfire ign and a vacuum advance kit. at least from what i think hsould run better than before? unless i am doing something wrong?

What was the stall on the converter you are using on both transmissions.

i think i know now what's wrong the only thing or first thing i changed when all this started was the mallory ign box. i'm going to try and get the module back in my distr. and get rid of the box and see if that is it. let you know how it goes this week end. i hope.
