My 2003 truck 1/2 ton ext cab 5.3. From Texas, went to Colorado, truck would go into limp mode at altitude, engine light would come on. Stop the truck cut it off, wait 30 sec crank it up and run good. Got to lower alt. it ran fine, light went off. 2 weeks later it did the same thing leaving the house 1/4 mile down the road. It gives a 15 and 16 code/chevy dealer. The Chevy dealer reprogramed it in Steam Boat Springe Col. 26 miles it started the same thing. I have a 180 degrese thermostat in it. Have 184,000 miles, boesn't use any oil, good com. pull a 29' travel trailer, it doesn't run hot, have oil cooler, trans cooler. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The dealer could not find any broken wires or connections.

throw out the 180F thermostat.. put the 195F back in...   the engine needs to run at the prescribed operating temp.. controlled by the 195F thermostat..    the ecm does not understand why  the coolant is not coming up to temp..
