According to all of the books I have, Chevy never made a 327 4 bolt. The casting # you provided was a good casting # for a 327 2 bolt, but it is also a good casting # for a performance application ('68-'79) 350, which did have a 4 bolt main.

Since the 327 and 350 shared the same bore (4.00"), you should check the stroke of the crank to determine if the stroke is 3.25 (327) or 3.48 (350).

Another possiblity is that someone could have used a later 327 crank, they had the same larger rod and crank journals of the 350, and slipped it into the 4 bolt, 350 block, to give you a 4 bolt 327. Again, same bore but giving the 350 block the shorter (327) stroke.

If you can get me casting #'s from the crank, I may be able to help you there too.

Hope any of this info helps.

Sounds like you have a 350 then. Get yourself a later ('68-'69) crank and you will have yourself a 327 4 bolt! I have a couple older 327's with the smaller journals and put a 283 crank in them to make them Chevy 302's

Okay.. so this engine is still seized up.. machinist says he doesnt think it will be saved. Heres the question.. How do i build my 350 in the car to be a torque monster.. Im talking like 400 -500 ft lbs of torque. dont really care about hp.

+1, 383 will give you a stump puller. go with 10:1 compression and a set of nice heads and cam.
