383 crate motor, high rise intake, 750 street Demon, MSD, new with 3,000 miles on it. PROBLEM, to run it at 3 grand or better I can stomp it and it will take off fast with no hesitation. to set at an idle or less than 3 grand and stomp it, it would rather stall than launch. timing is at 20 degrees. all parts are brand new out of the box. float level set at half way. 350 pro street auto. transmission. PLEASE SOMEONE, WHY CANT I STOMP IT FROM THE GET GO AND EVEN SMOKE A TIRE. THIS HAS 405 HP AND IT WONT TAKE OFF FROM A STOP, WHY???????

first drop your timeing to around 14-16 deg. bring the idle up to about 700-800 rpm and start tuneing the carb using a vacume gauge, sounds like it running lean. read the spark plugs, if the porsline is white its lean, if black its rich. find the inbetween color. you might need to change your jets out and try adjusting the axcellerator pump arm..
I have found that the double pumper demons work better on the 383s if it has a mild to big cam due to the 4 corner adjustment.

I have a 383 in my trans am and it does not have a vacume advanced. but to make sure the engine does not run lean or rich at low rpms, read the plugs. dive for about a 1/4 mile at adout 35 40 mph shut the engine off and after parking pull 1 of the plugs.
is the carb vacume secondaries or michanical secondaries, and does it have a rear metering block or just a flout bowl.
