I am in the process of installing a cam into my sbc. other than setting up TDC. Is any further "Cam Degreeing" needed? Mandatory?

there should be marks or dots on the crank and cam gears, they have to line up
are you using an adjustable timing set?
- i did love my chevette (first car) more than my first wife my 94 4.3L Astrobrick would outrun the 99 5.4L f350 i had to drive for work

yes but the farthest it goes is 4 degrees advanced/ 4 retard. Also when I removed my harmonic damper/ balancer, when I used a puller, the original timing chain and cam gear were off. While using the puller the crank and lower gear turned some. Does it metter? As long as I match up the notches on the cam gear and crank gear or am I f***ed?

Well you need to make sure the #1 piston is at top dead center and then match the timing dots on the crank 12'0clock and the cam gear 6'Oclock. #1 piston is the front driver side.
