Hello all i just joined. Pretty new to chevys but i have a 1972 GMC 3/4 ton 4x4. Its got a 350 out of a early 80's K5. It just began a rod knock, this is a first for me. Its not to load yet. Also at at times you cant here it until i get to 45mph then its bad. One of my buddies got a knock in his ford and he just pulled the oil pan off and replaced the bearing. Is that a possibility and if not what would you all suggest?
thanks alot!

EVENTUALLY YOUR GOING TO THROW THAT ROD. SWAP ENGINE OR REBUILD. CRANK WILL HAVE TO BE CUT DOWN. I TRIED CHANGING JUST THE BEARING BEFORE. DIDNT WORK OUT.

it sure is a lot cheeper to rebuild it before you blow a rod out the side of the block....
it will ruin the block... at least one head... the pan... and it may cost a fortune to tow it back when it blows...
you can take the motor out... takes about an hour on that one...
put it on a stand.. flip it over.. pull the pan.. inspect... if the rod bearings are spun... you will have to pull the heads.. pop the pistons... yank the crank.. change the bad rod...
or just find another motor... they are around... almost any small block will work up to 94 or so..
