i have a 2001 tahoe, its got a stock 327 and from what iv been able to gather its the same block as a 350-2 bolt main and 4" bore. if this is true does that meen i can stroke my 327 to a 383? if so will my stock computer still run it? i live in a emission county so i CANT change the motor OR the computer. plus im not looking for a 10.5 outlaw power or anything, just something with more "bang" thats alot of fun but still a good daily driver. any answers would be a big help

I do not think you have a true 327 if the engine is original because they quite making the 327 in 1969 and I just noticed that your truck is a 2001 so if the engine is the original then you have a 325 5.3 litre and they are totally different.

oh ok, yeah it is a 5.3 liter. someone told me it was a 327, but i didnt know for sure. i guess ill have to look into something else. maybe a supercharger with low boost or maybe a chip or dyno tune if the stock ECM can be tuned. for now ill just stick with the bolt ons i already have(cold air intake, headers and flowmaster) if you know of any other power ideas that will keep me emission legal it would be a big help. thanks man

No I do not the 325-5.3 was on the weak side for power.

not completly on subject but...

a couple of years ago i had the displeasure of renting a new truck with the 4.8? "new 283".  the rental truck had to spin harder to do the same as my 97 5.7 1500...ya, i know, displacement/stroke v. torque, but it had to spin faster to do the same mph on the freeway...okay 3.23/3.42 rear instead of 3.08, but the tire/wheel combo was bigger too (diameter), my old 97 5.7 gets 17-19mpg on the highway and this new truck got 14mpg...both trucks 2wd, 2-door, long wheel base

mine is not lowered but the rental sat about six to eight (if not more) inches higher in the front...could this be the only cause?

sorry about over-running your post but comment on weak motor spawned a memory

i did love my chevette (first car) more than my first wife
my 94 4.3L Astrobrick would outrun the 99 5.4L f350 i had to drive for work
