camaro888 - "what Cam ?" is about the most difficult question you can ask when it comes to building high performance engines. You can call comp cams like I did when I asked that very same question of them many years ago. The first guy told me to go with the XE290 cam. The second guy I spoke to at comp asked me "what idiot recommended that to you ? buy the 268 duration cam! " The third guy at comp recomended something one step above a street cam! Other tech lines line Summit & Jegs are the same with this sort of recommndation - you're just rolling dice and hoping you get the right cam. I would recommend you read up on the subject from people with a lot of experience answering this question - Check out books like "How to build & modify chevy small block V8 camshafs & valve trains" - David Vizard, or "High performance chevy small-block cams & valvetrains - Graham Hansen. Either of these books will save you a whole lot of wasted money and time if you should pick "the wrong cam". The most common mistake is to "overcam" and turn your build into a great sounding dog. Good luck with your build!

I second that!! But, there are so many cams out there that will work fine with your application the variations are gonna be within a few HP. A 225 cc head needs high compression and will easily need .500+ lift. How high are you revving? With a 2800 stall in a light car it is gonna leave the line weak! you need at least a 3500 stall. Picking the parts with the highest numbers dont always mean faster. What are you going to do with this vehicle????? The best way to build an engine is to build the one that is best for your situation.

Well its not a race car. Its going be a daily driver just with some power. And i dont need it to be a rocket it will be my first car. I was also looking at rebuilding the motor i have back to a 350 with probably 9.5 to 1 compression with a vortech procharger on top of it. I have already bought the torque converter but im thinkin about switching it out. i talked to the guy at the transmission shop and he though that 2500 stall would be good for me but everyone has told me i need a 3000+ stall.

With the patriot heads I would use a lunati voodoo cam .504/.525 lift or a .507 lift lunati street master cam. A 2500-2800RPM stall converter should work just fine.

Have you considered going with a solid roller cam? You can get a nice set of used lifters on e-bay for $80 to $100 so you would only be spending maybe an extra $150.00 or so. With a roller cam you would be able to go with more lift and should rev quicker which = HP. Comp Cams Extreme energy series are the way to go.
