Over the past year, I have had the "Service Engine Soon" lite coming on and off.  Each time it went off, I felt relieved.  Then, a week later, it was back on.

I finally decided to buy a code reader.  I got mine from Summit Racing.  Cost was around $90 shipped to my house by Fed Ex.  Mine does not require batteries and plugs into the computer port under the steering column very easily.

I took my new reader and hooked it to the port.  Turned the engine on as per instructions.  The code that popped up was P0171 & P0174.  Lean engine banks on both sides.

This code comes up when the MAF sensor is dirty.  It took an entire 5 minites to remove the MAF, see a bit if dust on it, clean it with brake cleaner, and put it back in.

When I started the car, it had always idled a tad rough until warmed.  Now, it was dead smooth.

My wife wants me to go thru the codes on her Camaro.  So does her sister.  If you buy one of these code readers, I feel most problems are very simple and can be fixed easily.  You will end up like a GENIUS!!
