I have a 1973 Monte Carlo. I was taking out the starter, and all the wires broke off. There are 4 wires not including the positive cable. Where do the wires go on the solenoid? I figure 2 go to r and 2 go to s. I know I will probably have to go trial and error.

Thanks, Bill

OK. The 73 monte has points type ignition (factory) The "s" on the solenoid is the "start" side of it this will have one wire that activates only with the ign switch in start position, this is to engage the solenoid. The large lug in the middle is the battery hot cable and the wiring harness hots too that go to the fuse block. The "R" terminal is the trickle this should have a yellow wire that goes to the + side of the coil. Good luck

Oh I zoomed in on your pic. thoes wires with the fuseable links go to the main lug and go to the fuse block.

Thank you very much. I will go wire it up now and see if it fires up. I have not started it in a year and a half.
