MY 35O I WAS GIVIN HAS SOME BENT AND BROKEN PUSH RODS ON BOTH SIDES. WHAT TYPE OF PROBLEMS WOULD CAUSE THIS? I HAVENT TORN INTO THE ENGINE YET, BUT I WAS TRYING TO GET A GENERAL IDEA BEFORE I DID. I FIGURE LIFTERS OF ROCKERS.

Bent push rods could be caused by a number of things like sticking valves, valve to piston clearance problems or even improper adjustment.

It most likely was not maintained very well.

Somebody "dawgd it out" then gave it to you. SBC engines rarely bend push rods in stock condition it most likely has been overreved is my opinion. Too someone could have been trying to stop some ticking lifters and over tightened them.
