I have a 32 ford cabriolet , engine compartment sides off (2,400 lbs) w/ 350 auto w/lock-up& 2.78 rear 28" tires Later I want to replace them w/ a 700 R trans & 3.50 rear. I am thinking of getting a 427 world Motown short block & using parts from my 383 engine (which has 5,000 miles on it) Edelbrock # 6073 RPM Heads 70 cc (9 to1) w/ 1.5 roller rockers & Edelbrock # 7525 RPM air- gap dual Quad w/ (2) 500 Edelbrock Thunder Carbs , MSD billet Dist & 6 AL ing . This is not for racing just for fun . Questions : ( 1 ) My 383 never ran hot ( BeCool radiator , 185 thermostat w/ 2 span fans that go on @ 190o) & hoping the 427 will not run hot ??( too hot is not too fun ) How would the 427 react ?? ( 2 ) The cam I have now is Edelbrock # 7102 .334 .244 Dur & .488 .510 , lope sep 112o & intake ctr 107o (not roller & will not use) . It has a rough loppy idle sound which I like to keep but in a roller cam . What roller cam would be good in the 2,400-6,500 range to keep that sound & but be more aggressive w/ the 427 ?? ( 3 ) Would like mid range for sure but some where around 2,200 & 6,500 cam. ( 4 ) Would the long throw of the 427 take away the rough lopey idle ?? 5 ) What wt & kind of oil is good ?? ( 6 ) If you take a 350 short block chev bored for a 383 & a 427 short block World Motown every thing the about same which would run the efficient & a better set up ?? Sorry about the mundane questions . THANKS for your help Dick > dickkir@cmcast.net
