With that cam you will need aftermarket heads with 170cc-180cc intake runners for best results.

The 416's are 305HO heads and work pretty well and so do the 305HO 601's if they are true 305 heads with the 1.84/150 valves as they were also used on 267's as well and have smaller valves. If you deside on the 416's or the 601's I would go with a different cam.

If you are going with the 601's then I would use a lunati P#00016LK which has a .458 lift or if you are a compcams fan then go with a P#12-210-2 which has a .454 lift.
No problem at least you are trying to learn just beware of some of the info you might get on some of these sites. Any thing else just ask.

WHEN REBUILDING AN ENGINE, ALWAYS INSTALL A NEW TIMING SET. YOU CAN GET 1 AROUND $25 OR SO. I WOULD ALSO BUY A NEW OIL PUMP. REBUILDING AN ENGINE COST A LOT OF TIME AND MONEY. YOU DONT WANT TO DROP A FRESH MOTOR IN YOUR RIDE JUST TO HAVE IT MESS UP BECAUSE OF A BAD OIL PUMP OR TIMING CHAIN/GEARS.
