Another problem I have is I have a cracked heat riser on one side. Aside from the anoying flutter am I lossing power? The impala has a 327 but with a power glide so I haven't any idea if getting the riser fixed right away would give me a noticable difference in power or not....whatcha think?

fixing exhaust leaks has almost always felt like the car has more power.... as you can go faster with less noise...
replacement heat risers are available through most parts stores... walker exhaust has them in their catalog... other brands are also available... they come in 2 inch for most small blocks and 2-1/2 inch for many big blocks...

chevelle83..... so how do you bolt the flared pipe up to the flat faced exhaust manifold... the heat riser bolts up flat or with a gasket to the manifold side ... and either takes a exhaust Oring.. or has a built in flair for the flared pipe to seal against...
for all the others... who hate noisy leaking exhaust systems .... here is a link to heat riser valves... a whole bunch of them..
may are available through ROL gasket company...

enjoy... these people have even made blanks... without shafts... for some popular models...

Well ok technically if I do keep manifolds I take the riser off and remove the baffle and plug the holes so it is never an issue again.
