i am trying to find out whether my stock 1998 K1500 fuel injection system will fuction properly with such an upgrade as a stroker kit. there is not much brain power between the finger tips so any help is appreciated.

Yes, it will, but you'll need to get a tuner for the computer so you can tune hte system for the 383, unless you buy GM Performance Parts' 383HT motor, which is designed to drop into 96-98 trucks and doesn't require computer tuning.

doing a chip,cam headers and exhaust would probably net 70hp alone. I'd do roller rockers as well. plus a fresh motor

Yep! My brother got his 1999 Chevrolet K1500 with a 5.7L and turned it into a 6.2L 383 stroker and didnt even need a computer chip. Just rebuilt it and stroked it and she ran fine.

IT WILL RUN BUT WILL RUN AT ITS BEST IF THE COMPUTER IS CALIBRATED TO THE RIGHT ENGINE.
